Bus hits tri-bike, kills 2 in Nueva Ecija



SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija -- Two persons were killed when a wayward passenger bus hit the tri-bike they were riding along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tabuating, this town, at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.


Chief Inspector Renato Calderon Morales, town police chief, identified the fatalities as Andy Tigao, 47, and his grandchild, Angeline Tigao, 6, both residents of Barangay Tabuating, this town.
The two victims were both pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.


The errant Baliwag Transit passenger bus, with plate number CXM 910, and body number 9925 was driven by Luisito Ortiz, 56, a resident of Barangay San Roque, San Isidro, who was immediately taken into police custody.


Investigation showed that the bus was headed for Manila at about 8 p.m. when it “bumped the tri-bike while crossing the road.”

Ortiz was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, in relation to Republic Act 7610. (PNA)
